Note: the following is a little bit at variance with the tree posted on the Dave Gerth's web page, http://familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/g/e/r/David-M-Gerth/index.html

Dave adds an Eli, 1821, with wife and children, whom we have included, and a Martha, 1838, no information, whom we have not. We have also omitted Dormania, 1828.

Mark (1788-1860) and brother John`s itenarary.

1816, Mark, from Stokes Co., NC, with the Billeter clan, moved to Grant City, KY. Brother James was the only one to stay in NC. ca. 1820 Mark and family moved to Warren or Butler Co., OH, with brother John and wife Mary Strupe (Strub) following about 1825.
ca. 1838 Mark and John, with families, moved to Clay Co., IN.
Ca. 1852 Mark departed for Harrison Co., IA, and John and Parmeneo, John`s only son, for Schuyler Co., IL. Parmeneo went on to Chariton Co., MO, in 1870.

Information from Georgia L. Lewis, 3736 Jefferson Ave. South Ogden, Utah, 84403.

Mark Billeter was born about 1788 (some sources say 1793) in Stokes Co., NC. He was the oldest child of Zebediah Billeter and Ann Seward. He had six younger brothers and one sister, all were born in Stokes Co. Mark Billeter is mentioned twice in the marriage records of Stokes Co. Both times in 1810. A Mark Billeter married Polly Owens, January 5, 1810. A Mark Billeter is also listed as being married to Nancy Shelton, February 22, 1810. By 1816 Mark had moved to Grant Co., KY. His brother James stayed in NC, but all his other siblings and his mother moved to Kentucky. Mark and his first wife had at least two children. Elijah was born in 1811 and Nancy was born in 1813. His first wife must have died, because in 1813 he married Mary Patterson in Grant Co., KY. Mary had eleven children. Penthus, 1820, was born in Grant Co., KY. James, 1821; William, 1823; Rebecca, 1825; Elizabeth, 1827; Dormania,1828; Joseph, 1829; Sarah Anne, 1832; Mary Allis, 1835; and Martin, 1836, were all born in Warren Co., OH. The last child Harrison, was born in 1838. In 1820 Mark was paying taxes in Grant Co. KY, but there is no record of him there after 1821. This time Mark moved his family to Warren or Butler Co., OH. About five years later, his brother and sister-in-law John and Mary Billeter followed them to Ohio. Mark had dealings in Clay Co., IN, as early as 1824. By 1838 he and his brother John had both moved their families there. In the 1850 census, Mark and his wife, Mary Patterson are listed in this County. About 1852 the two brothers moved again, but to different places. Mark moved to Harrison Co., IA. Brother John moved to Schuyler Co., IL, with his son Parmeneo. Parmeneo moved again to Charlton Co., MO. Mark died in April of 1860. His widow, Mary lived another 12 years. She died in August, 1872 and is buried in Bowman Grove Cemetary, Shelby, IA. Their sons Martin and Harrison served for the North in the Civil War. Only Martin made it through. Taken from Vital Statistics Harrison Co., IA.
