Emma and William lived in many places through out their lives. Emma was
the peacemaker andthe soft spoken woman who tried to keep Pop from
playing favorites with thegrandchildren, however after her passing, he
did just that. Sharon Wills remembers the sound her shoes made when she
walked at. Emma had less than an eighth grade education. She was a
gentile spoken woman and was loved by everyone. According to Lenny her
family may have been very poor and the china doll may have been the only
toy she may have gotten. I suspect that maybe the metal head doll was
here, it also could be Hazel's. Joy Davis file
Emma married William Malcolm Aikins on 2 Jun 1911 in Stettler, Alberta, Canada. William was born on 27 Aug 1882 in Arrington, Atcheson Co, Kansas. He died on 21 Dec 1970 in Valley Terrace Rest Home, Tacoma, Pierce Co., Washington. He was buried in New Tacoma Cemetery, Tacoma, Washington.

William Aikins was a retired carpenter Social Security536-10-6759 A. He
built sets for Paramount sudios in Los Angeles, CA. He also built St.
Martins College in Lacey, WA., sometime before 1922. The pictures taken
of Hazel and Lenny with the dolls a Christmas were taken around 1920.
William also moved a lot in his life so one day Emma bought a piano
hoping sto stop the moving. It worked! It was so heavy to move they
stayed in Tacoma. Karla currently has this piano. (I call it the
Anchor). "Pop" had an 8th grade education. Lenny remembers as a father
he had a temper. As a grandfather he tended to play favorites, per
Sharon, he gave her skating lessons, Jessie a horse named Brandy and Max
received a car (1950 or 51 Pontiac). When Pop and Harry and Roy were
together they all would fight.....if one saidthe sun was yellow the
other would say that it was blue and the third wouldargue tht it was
green! sharon never felt it serious fighting...it was theirway of
communication! When he got to sick to stay alone he was moving nextdoor
to Lenny in Puyallup, that is the house I remember hin in! One day he
crashed his car and they took his keys away, he never drove again. When
I was young he had a small house in Puyallup, WA and he had the greatest
toys, ametal horse with a lasso and he jumped in circles swinging his
lasso and a small dog that had a ball on a string in his mouth it would
spin and look likeit was chasing the ball. Pop kept cookies at hand
every time we came over.Pop died when I was seven years old. I haven't
seen the dog since then andam unsure of where it is to this dy. He
belonged to a Carpenters Union and was part of a good fellowship club,
where upon the death of a member they sentin some money and supposedly
upon their death their family would receive a certain amount of money,
although at the time of Pop's death there was no money to give the
family.

This file isa part of the Bureau of Land Management Database for the
states of Montana,North Dakota, and South Dakota.
Data edited and prepared by Joy Fisher, jfisher@ucla.edu.
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) inherited the functions of the
General Land Office when it was established by Congress in 1946. The
South Dakota Land Patents Database, derived from General Land Office and
BLM information, contains deeds (primarily patents) issued by the United
States in the region now known as the State of South Dakota between 1859
and 1995. WhileBLM has been referred to as "the Nations record keeper",
it is the NationalArchives that actually keeps the files. The BLM,
maintains diagrammatic platsknown as Master Title Plats, which depict
lands which are owned by the United States and lands which are patented.
However, these plats do not have any information about who the lands were
patented to. That information which has only been available after tedious
research, it is available now in this database.
The South Dakota Land Patents Database contains the following information
for each land transaction: date, location (township, range, section,
meridian), name of person the land was patented to, case type, conveyance
type, county, and the patent document identification number.
Using this information you can obtain copies of the patent file for $10
from the National Archives atthe following address:
